21 Extra Goodness Launches 'Bag of Goodness' To Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day

To commemorate World Down Syndrome Day 2021, 21 Extra Goodness launches the 'Bag of Goodness.' Read on to know more.

In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day on 21st March, 21 Extra Goodness will launch “Bag of Goodness,” a welcome hamper donated to new mothers who have just given birth to kids with special needs from 1-31 March 2021.

The social venture founded by Anna Ico Tingzon, will donate the “Bag of Goodness” to Down Syndrome Association (Singapore), which will contain newborn items for the child. The Bag of Goodness is meant to give hope and assurance to the mother that everything will be alright with the right support and intervention for their child.

21 EG has collaborated with the following partners to contribute to this worthy cause:

1. Hoy International Limited – Hoy has been making handbags for world known brands for two decades and is committed to excellent craftsmanship and dedication to their work. The year of 2021 marks their 20th anniversary and their expansion to Singapore. They would also like to give back to the local community by supporting “Bags of Goodness”.

2. Mothercare – With over 50 years’ experience in all baby related products, Mothercare is a leading global baby retailer. With a strong reputation in quality, safety and innovation in their products, Mothercare also matches that with excellent services for mothers, mothers-to-be, babies and young children. Mothercare takes pride in offering products and delivering good service to assist their customers in this rewarding experience, called parenting. Mothercare has donated clothes and baby toiletries for the campaign.

3. Kao Merries – Merries continually delivers products that contribute to the baby’s health physical and emotional development, with the aim to be the most “gentle to the skin” baby diaper in the world. Each Bag of Goodness will have a sampler pack of Merries’ newborn diapers.

4. Dignity Mama – A pilot project that started in 2012, Dignity Mama enables young adults with disabilities to gain basic entrepreneurial skills and lead independent lives. Dignity Mama now has four stalls located in Singapore hospitals. They have kept 50 thousand books out of landfills and created employment opportunities for young adults with special needs. For Bag of Goodness, Dignity Mama has donated brand new story board books for the newborns.

5. welovesupermom.com – Asia’s Largest marketplace for parents and expecting mums, welovesupermom covers extensive categories from diapers, feeding, baby food, bathing accessories, strollers, car seats, bedding & nursery items, baby fashion, maternity wear, wide range of toys, kids’ educational materials, enrichment services and more. Welovesupermom has everything under one roof for parents with kids from 0 – 10 years.

For this campaign, welovesupermom.com has generously donated SuperMom goodies.

About 21 Extra Goodness

Founded in 2020, 21 Extra Goodness was created to raise awareness on Down syndrome and other special needs with the vision that all people are valued and treated fairly regardless of disability.

Tingzon’s three-year-old child, Marian, has Down syndrome and was born on Christmas Day via emergency C-section. For her young life of 3, she is diagnosed to have ASD (atrial septal defect) upon birth but has so far cleared all her medical appointments and does not require to undergo any surgery to date. She is thriving thru early intervention and in an inclusive playgroup school.

Last October, 21 Extra Goodness organised a 3-part webinar series together with various therapists and a developmental paediatrician to promote Early Intervention during the pandemic.

By selling home-cooked food to the local community, 21EG aims to build a community where children with special needs can thrive through early intervention, inclusive education and fair employment, thereby achieving a better quality of life.
