It was a morning of heartfelt stories, science-backed insights, and community bonding at Motherswork @ Great World City on 19 May 2025, as mums came together for “The Only C You Need”, a special edition of Momversations presented by Aptamil® Profutura™ KID CESARBIOTIK, in partnership with theAsianparent and Mediacorp.
Hosted by the effervescent Cordelia Daphne Low, the session focused on an important, often under-discussed topic: the gut and immune health of children born via caesarean section (C-section).

Real Talk, Real Mums
The event kicked off with warm welcomes, refreshments, and an atmosphere buzzing with mum-to-mum support. Attendees were invited to reflect on their own motherhood journeys, with many raising their hands when asked if they had undergone C-sections themselves.
Leading the session was Deeron Tan, a certified nutritionist and working mum from Danone Specialised Nutrition Singapore, who shed light on the lesser-known impact of C-sections on a child’s immune system. “C-section can be lifesaving, but many parents are unaware that it can potentially affect their child’s gut microbiota, where their gut is less diverse with good gut bacteria. This condition would take 5 years to normalise,” she explained.
This was followed by a deeply personal and inspiring panel with two C-section mums, Persie Yang and Jodie Hia, who openly shared their experiences — from recovery to how they are now actively supporting their children’s health through informed nutritional choices. When asked to describe their journey with a “C” word, both mums chose Courage — a fitting tribute to their strength and resilience.

A highlight of the session was the expert discussion on gut health.
