Couple Caught Having Sex in Public in Singapore

Looks like sex in public in Singapore is the new normal.

We had earlier covered cases of couples making out at car parks and HDB void decks. Well, “you don’t need much space to have sex”!

Anyway, according to The Straits Times, this particular incident happened along Claymore Drive, outside Orchard Towers, on July 21, 2018.

Videos (which later went viral) showed the couple having sex on a pavement, completely oblivious to the fact that they were being watched by passersby, and captured on video.

Officers managed to nab the man based on CCTV footage. The woman is yet to be identified.

Having sex in public in Singapore can get you in trouble. Anyone found guilty of committing an obscene act in public faces a jail term of up to three months, a fine, or both.

As long as the act is visible to the public, the ones involved in the act could be prosecuted for indecency.

Mr Rajan Supramaniam, a criminal lawyer at Hilborne & Co has earlier been quoted as saying, “They can be in love, or even have the intention to marry each other, but as long as they are in a public place, it may be considered illegal.”
