For many families, the Bukit Timah Food Centre has been a cherished hub of delicious food and warm memories. However, the time has come for this beloved locale to make way for an exciting new development. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming changes.
The End of an Era
As confirmed by multiple sources, the Bukit Timah Food Centre will be demolished in the second half of 2024. It’s a significant moment for all who have enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere and mouth-watering dishes of this popular food centre.
In place of the current food centre, a new integrated development is set to rise. This five-storey building will house a modern market and food centre, with two floors dedicated to underground parking.
More Than Just a Food Centre
This new complex aims to connect communities. It will link the Beauty World MRT station and Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School, providing additional convenience for families.
It will also feature family-friendly facilities such as an indoor sports hall, senior and children’s care facilities, children’s education centres, and a community library.

A Temporary Home for Vendors
While the new complex is under construction, vendors from the current food centre will relocate to a temporary market and food centre across the road. This facility, costing around S$5 million, will house 100 stalls.
The Costs Involved
Vendors choosing to move to the temporary facility will bear its cost, repaid over four years. The monthly rental for a food stall at the new facility is estimated to be about S$1,650, with total costs, including miscellaneous expenses, amounting to S$2,350.
