The Jurong West Hawker Centre has reopened its doors after being closed for over three years. The hawker centre soft-launched on September 28, 2023, and is expected to officially open in October 2023.
Located next to Pioneer Mall, the hawker centre has undergone several changes since it was last open. Thanks to feedback from the public, the two-story hawker centre now houses 39 food stalls, an increase from the previous 34.
The layout and seating have also been reconfigured and given a facelift. With a diverse range of food options, including local favourites like wanton mee, nasi padang, and bubble tea, customers are sure to find something to their liking.
More food options and seating space
According to West Coast Group Representation Constituency Member of Parliament Desmond Lee’s Facebook post, the new layout of the hawker centre is a result of feedback from over 2,000 households in the vicinity. The feedback has helped shape the changes to the layout and offerings, resulting in 101 more seats than before. The hawker centre now offers 580 seats for diners to enjoy their meals, along with an additional five food stalls.

A fresh start after a challenging past
Prior to its reopening in 2023, the hawker centre had been closed for over three years. Its previous operator, Hawker Management, did not renew its contract after it expired in August 2020. The closure was due to less-than-ideal performance standards. Generally, only half of the 48 wet market and hawker stalls were occupied in May 2019.
Now, the hawker centre is operated by JW50 Hawker Heritage, whose parent company is Chang Cheng Mee Wah Food. With a fresh start, the hawker centre is ready to serve the community once again.
