Shopping cart crashes down an escalator and slams into unsuspecting mum and daughter

The mother, identified as Xu Shuangyan was relatively unharmed, but her four-year-old daughter received deep lacerations to her forehead

Shopping Cart Crashes Down an Escalator — In northeast China, another video of a recent escalator accident started to make its rounds online. This time it doesn’t involve an unsupervised toddler caught in the machine, but it is nevertheless a pain to watch.

The video shows a mother and daughter pair riding the escalator when out of the blue, a shopping cart comes crashing down on the head on.

Reports from People’s Daily Online revealed that the accident happened in a shopping center in the city of Harbin—and who scene was captured by the establishment’s CCTV cameras.

The clip begins with the pair as the escalator delivered them to the floor below. Then suddenly, the daughter turns her head when she hears loud noises.

No sooner does she turn when a shopping cart filled with soft drinks barrels into them, knocking the pair head-first on the ground.

The cart falls on top of them, and they remain sprawled on the ground for a few short seconds before several passers-by and a security guard run to their aid.

The mother, identified as Xu Shuangyan was relatively unharmed, but her four-year-old daughter received deep lacerations to her forehead.

The little girl can be seen crying as the two are helped to their feet.

According to the report, it was a man who pushed the trolley down the stairs and he quickly fled the scene. The supermarket has allegedly refused to take responsibility and said they would only do so if they were legally obligated to.

Workers of the shopping center said that they have installed signs near escalators prohibiting certain items from being loaded onto it, including shopping carts.

The police are now looking for the man. They are also deliberating whether or not the supermarket should carry responsibility.
