A healthy child is a happy child, and that's what we all want!

A Top Priority for Preschools

Preschools across the island are pulling out all the stops to maintain their commitment to providing Singapore healthy meals. Over the past two years, food costs have jumped by a whopping 20%, but that hasn’t stopped these dedicated educators from ensuring your children get the nutrition they need.

EtonHouse International is leading the charge with its six central kitchens catering to 37 preschools. They’re following the Health Promotion Board’s nutritional guidelines to a T. Get this – they use 30 different types of veggies in their monthly menu rotation! Talk about variety!

Ng Yi-Xian, CEO of EtonHouse International Education Group, says, “So from a child’s perspective, they only see one menu item once every month. Of course, we control the sugar content in these meals, and we also measure the carbohydrate content to fit into the healthy eating standards.”

Sourcing Smart for Singapore Healthy Meals

Preschools are getting creative with their sourcing strategies. Sunny Bunny Montessori, for instance, has its staff visiting wet markets weekly to snag seasonal fruits and dodge those pesky delivery charges.

Smart move, right?

They’re also bringing in experienced cooks who know how to whip up delicious, nutritious meals while keeping an eye on salt and sugar content. It’s all about balance, folks!

Teaching Healthy Habits Beyond the Plate

But it’s not just about serving Singapore healthy meals – these preschools are also teaching kids about nutrition. Sunny Bunny Montessori conducts lessons to promote healthy eating habits among their little learners. It’s a win-win: kids get great food and learn how to make smart food choices!

A Silver Lining on the Horizon

Now, here’s some good news for both preschools and parents. Food inflation is starting to slow down, thanks to falling global prices and a strong Singapore dollar. Prices of staples like bread, chicken, and milk are stabilizing, which should help keep those Singapore healthy meals affordable.

Economist Chua Han Teng from DBS Bank predicts this trend will continue, saying, “We can expect food inflation to continue to be controlled, at least for the rest of 2024 if there are no major global supply chain disruptions and unexpected (situations), such as from bad weather.”
