Should you let your child play with kids who have parents that you don't like?

Do you let your child play with kids who have parents that you don't like? Most Singaporean parents we polled said yes!

Will you let your child play with kids you don’t like?

We recently ran a poll on Facebook asking our fellow Singaporean Parents if they would let their child play with other kids who have parents whom they may not like.

20 parents responded and what can we say, except that parents in Singapore are very accommodating and don’t allow their own judgments to cloud their kid’s fun!

Overall, 17 parents said yes, 2 parents said maybe and only 1 parent said no. Mum, Pernilla Johansson shared, “Yes – why transfer your own issue on your kids?”. Echoing her sentiments was dad, Peter Ruschel: What’s got to do with the parents? if one don’t like the parents, don’t let it affect the children, they’re innocent!

The parent who said no, Cheong Huey Ling, explained that, “Monkey see monkey do. If the kid is nice still okay, but still, better avoid before any bad habits are picked up.”

Here are all the Yes responses:

Wendy Yeo: Yes
Jojo Tan: Yes
Jess Segour: Yes
Roshni Mahtani: Yes
Elicia Bong: Yes
Mehul Tanna: Yes
Avani Dalal-Mehta: Yes
Pauline Wong: Wow good question…so far I’ve not come across any parents that I don’t like so I guess if I ever met with such a situation, I’ll still let them play with the kids after all the kids are innocent.
Selina Ang: Yes if we happen to be in the same place at the same time. to me, the child is innocent. what is between the parents have nothing to do with the kid. just that you wont see me talking to the parents at all. just to the kid
Esther Johansson: YES, I will. agreed with Selina comments.
Sun Hongfa: Yes, same sentiments with Selina.
Rena Chew: Yes I will but will monitor from far
Peter Ruschel: What’s got to do with the parents? if one don’t like the parents, don’t let it affect the children, they’re innocent!
Loo Su Mei: Of course. As long as the kids are nice kids.
Belle Wong: No choice, have to.. adult prob can;t pull children in.. unless the children also got problem.
Pernilla Johansson: Yes – why transfer your own issue on your kids?

Here are all the maybe responses

Sim Fenny: Depends if the parents practice discipline on their kids..else I will try to avoid as much as I could.
陈淑玲: I agree with Fenny, it is very impt esp’ if the parents did or did not use the appropriate ways to discipline their child. No parents want their child to go near bad influences…don’t they?
Cheong Huey Ling: Monkey see monkey do. If the kid is nice still okay, but stilll, better avoid before any bad habits are picked up.

So what about the rest of you? Do you let your child play with kids who have parents that you don’t like?
