The elderly in Singapore are perhaps one of the most vulnerable groups and often fall prey to scams. However, you’d be wrong to stereotype every elderly individual.
Because there are some who are more sharp and quick-thinking than any average youngster.
As was proved by the 91-year-old, Wang Caijuan, who can give the police and crime investigators a run for their money.

Nonagenarian Wang Caijuan realised she needed help to get by at home and so decided to hire a maid.
But the elderly soon found her cash frequently missing from her wallet. She first became suspicious when each time she asked her maid to buy something, the money she would receive would be less than expected.
Wang also found that her wallet would go empty without any reason. Unable to derive any conclusion, she had a word with her son and decided to try a trick to catch the culprit.
The 91-year-old marked numbers on four of her S$10 bills. Right before she went out, Wang kept her bag in the designated place.
However, after she returned, Wang saw that her bag was placed in a different place. When she confronted her maid to return all her cash, she found the marked note along with her possession.
So yes, the maid was caught
stealing!
According to Ms Wang, the maid feigned innocence and added that she accidentally picked up the notes from the floor.
91YO Gave The Maid An Ultimatum
The maid eventually confessed to stealing money several times and was given an ultimatum. Ms Wang’s family decided to deport her.
Following the incident, their maid reportedly bought a plane ticket to return home all by herself.
Post the incident, Ms Wang decided to share the incident to warn other employees of such incidents.
