A man had set up a camera in his haunted home to capture paranormal activity—instead, what he caught on tape was an extramarital affair! What’s worse, his partner of 11 years was sleeping with his 16-year-old son.
An obscene betrayal
In Tasmania, the age for sexual consent is 17, so in essence the partner, 28-year-old partner who isn’t named for legal reasons, was having sex with a minor.
It was revealed in court that the woman and boy initially had a rough relationship but with some cajoling and tickling led to smooching and sex. According to reports, Crown Prosecutor Jackie Hartnett disclosed that the woman had entered the boy’s room to talk about driving lessons.
The man’s son confessed that the incident caught on camera was not the first time. Based on Yahoo Australia reports, the woman had actually had sex with the boy in a hotel room several times.
Who is to be blamed?
Reports state that the woman is to be jailed for 12 months after pleading guilty to seven counts of unlawful sex. Justice David Porter said: “You are the one who must bear full responsibility for what happened. Although the relationship that commenced was more opportunistic than predatory, that cannot truly be said of your conduct later on.” She has also been ordered to check in to sexual rehab.
Remorse for the wrong reasons
Not surprisingly the woman is depressed in jail—she reportedly has an 18-month-old baby with the boy’s father. Even though she pleaded guilty to having sex with a minor, she insisted that she was oblivious to the fact that the age of consent was 17 in Tasmania. Does the age of consent even matter when you’re having an affair with your partner’s son? Is that not immoral and borderline incestuous on its own?

Setting up a camera in the home
Having several cameras in the home may not be such a bad idea for parents to monitor what is going on when they are not around. Aside from security reasons, you never know what else you might find.
