When my 4-year-old daughter found out that we were going to see dinosaurs at the zoo, she asked if they were “real life dinosaurs”, but I told her that these were realistic animatronics because real dinosaurs are already extinct.
“What stinks?”, she innocently asked me.
So I explained that if something was extinct, it means that there are no more of them left on this earth — like dinosaurs.
Your kids can even touch some of the cool dinosaurs featured around the zoo!
Singapore Zoo and River Safari currently have an impressive display of realistic pre-historic dinosaur animatronics that can move and roar, in a bid to raise awareness about the possible sixth extinction we may be facing as many animal species are being wiped out at an alarming rate.
Within the last 50 years, we have already lost 67% of our world’s biodiversity and there is a growing list of critically endangered animals that are at risk of becoming extinct.
Venture through the amazing Dinosaur Valley where you can spot a tall Tyrannosaurus Rex, a tough Triceretops, a screeching Iguanadon, a fierce Spinosaurus, a spitting Dilophosaurus and many more!
Learn more about other critically endangered species that are facing extinction such as the beloved Orangutan, majestic Sumatran Elephant, adorable Pangolin, and beautiful South China Tiger, just to name a few.
