Baby apps you must have!

Baby apps you must have!

Caring for an infant or child can prove overwhelming, right from nursing to keeping the noise down while your baby slumbers. But for the smart mum, there is a way to lighten the load. Whether a stay-at-home or on-the-go parent, turning to your phone for interactive and easy-to-use baby apps may just offer the aid you've been looking for.

Baby apps are revolutionising the art of parenting

The world of technology is a wonderful thing. Why? Because in the present digital age and space, a plethora of parenting advice is right at your fingertips. That’s right! Today, hundreds of baby apps for your phone exist and if leveraged effectively, they can help take the guess work out of caring for your baby. Here are a few you may find useful…

Amazingly helpful baby apps (2013)

The baby monitor app for instance, is an excellent tool for on-the-go mothers. It allows you to rely on your iPhone as a ‘noise detector’ when caring for your infant. Placing the device next to your baby’s crib after you’ve entered the phone number you can be reached at, the ‘monitor’ acts as a prompter when noise is picked up. This is great for travelling.

Meanwhile, the nursing tracker app lets you chart when and how long you nursed and on which side(s). Hey, when the first few weeks go by in a blur of feeding, minus the sleep and euphoria, an app like this can come in handy.

On a niftier note, there is also a white noise app that gives you access to eight soothing sounds which can be played while your little one is napping, to drown out less relaxing sounds. The pitch and volume can be adjusted to suit you and your baby.

Baby apps for the smart mum

Another highly functional aid is the Jott app, which allows you to record shopping or to-do lists when you are occupied or have your hands full, like carrying the baby or driving. It is almost like having a ‘smart’ organiser at your beck and call.

At last, something for the angels themselves! Although there are numerous apps for your preschooler, the preschool adventure app allows your little ones to play matching games, learn colors, shapes, sounds and body parts using bright, colourful graphics. This is a great phone app to keep little ones busy while shopping or travelling.

An app a day keeps the doctor away

WebMD Mobile gives parents the ability to list their baby’s symptoms in order to get some idea of what may be wrong. FYI: This app is not to be used in place of a pediatrician, but can be helpful in eliminating unnecessary trips to the doctor.

Stop and Squat is an app that locates restrooms wherever you are because we all know “I’ve gotta go” means now!

Other apps parents find useful include restaurant locators, meal planners (including ingredient lists), baby trackers that keep track of diaper changes, feedings, nap times and calendars, story books (audio included) and drawing pads.

Together, this collection of cool baby apps makes for an efficient helper for mummy when there are a million and one things to juggle all on the same day or in a single moment. Sometimes, these obligations can render the entire process of raising a child completely overwhelming.  Now, there’s a beautiful and convenient way to lighten the load.

We hope that this article on baby apps was both beneficial and insightful to you and makes caring for your little one a more pleasurable experience with time to spare for yourself.
