A five-year old boy who was admitted to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) recently died of the H1N1 flu. According to Channel News Asia, he got the virus from his uncle and his condition worsened during the Lunar New Year holidays. This boy is one of the youngest victims to die of this virus. Last year in November, a 2-year old boy also died of H1N1 flu.
Just recently, The Ministry of Health or MOH was said to have lowered its alert status of H1N1 from yellow to green. Health officials said that they have seen no significant increase of Influenza A cases in Singapore recently. But because of this incident, officials now advise the public to get their jabs. Also, I think that the public should still be conscious about maintaining high standards of personal and environmental hygiene. Remind your kids to always wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water.
