Malaysia has confirmed its first case of swine flu case. The victim, a 21-year-old student had returned from the United States on Wenesday. He was hospitalised on Thursday after suffering from fever, sore throat and body aches. Tests confirmed that he was infected with the H1N1 virus. He is now receiving anti-viral treatment and is in stable condition.
Health Ministry’s director-general, Dr. Ismail Merican said the ministry is in touch with his family members to ensure that he did not infect them, but they have not been placed under quarantine.
He also urged all passengers who travelled on the Malaysian airlines flight MH091 from Newark in the United States to Kuala Lumpur that landed at 7.15am on May 13 to contact the ministry for further instructions.
