Why does my Baby wake up in the middle of the night?

My 10 mth old boy wakes up every night crying and standing in his cot. Put him down again and he will fall back to sleep. This can happen 3-4 times per nite. Why is that so?

Mum needs help: My 10 mth old boy wakes up every night crying and standing in his cot. Put him down again and he will fall back to sleep. This can happen 3-4 times per nite. Why is that so?

baby sleep

Rania Nathan: he must be having bad dreams…try to carry him.
Zsumi Tan: oh…its normal. I just encounter this episode 4mths back. Its last for a month or so…its just another phase.

Niz Hshim: Ya it happens to me too. and it can be quite tiring.

Jenny Chee: It happens to me also. It will go away after a while.
Trixie Wong: My boy has been like that since newborn too. I blamed it to colicky when he was younger but he’s 14 mths now! Having said tat.. There will be good n bad days. He might slp thru for few days n cry everynight for one week. Hang in there. You r not alone. =)
Fiona Rebecca Biggs: Use to encounter it myself but my girl sleeps with me on the bed. If its not time for a feed (was breastfeeding her then), I’d jus pacify her with my lil finger (plop it into her mouth) and I’d fall right back to sleep and so would she.
Vincent Lee: Has he been sleeping with the parents since birth? This is actually a sign of insecurity and unfamiliar environment. It will eventually goes away when he is more comfortable with the environment. Maybe you could put his favourite item beside him so when he wakes up, he has something familiar to comfort him.

Rachel Qweezabella Kouju: I have a 9 years old son, still sleeping with me in one bed. Has another baby 9 mths in cot. I”ve tried everytyhing to make him sleep in his own room including makeovers. Till now still in vain. Can someone give some advice?

Annabella Long: Mine also the same! On and off it happened, wakes 3-4 times till about 3 plus, i m not sure why could be high need or very sensitive kid! Now he is 4 only once a night if there is bad dream. So no bad show for him or wakes more times!!!
Shirley Soh Sally: prob having colic

Charissa Chua: there was this article in yesterday’s Mind Your Body that mentioned that there will be behavioural changes in babies who are starting to learn how to stand or walk. One of it was getting up in the middle of the night and holding on to the sides of the cot bed.

Tay Pei Yee: Very normal behavior of a baby learning to stand or walk, like clarissa said
Petrine Chan: Couldn’t agree more!!
Viv Ooi: My son is 3 years old now also had the some problem….he will wake up and cry, sometime he will vomit also…why?im so worry!
Kizel Wong: My son 22mths oso wake up middle of the nite crying and want me carry him to sleep but I fed him “Jin feng San” bot from those Chinese medicial hall from den he didn’t wake up middle of the crying… Mummys u may try this.
