Watch the Night Sky Explode in a Blaze of Glory at Singapore's First Sky Lantern Festival!

The Singapore Sky Lantern Festival is more than just an event — it will be a celebration of dreams, culture, music, and family. So, parents, are you ready to watch your children's faces light up as they see their wishes float into the starry sky?

Have you ever wished to be part of a magical evening where the night sky is filled with hundreds of glowing lanterns? Have you dreamt of creating a special memory with your family that your children will remember forever? If so, get ready to make those dreams come true! Singapore’s first-ever Sky Lantern Festival is happening on February 21, 2024, at Palawan Green, Sentosa, and it promises to be an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Stepping Into a World of Wonder at Sentosa

Picture this — Sentosa, an island known for its beauty and fun-filled attractions, now plays host to the mesmerising spectacle of the Sky Lantern Festival. As the lanterns ascend into the sky over Palawan Green, with the sea as their backdrop, the sight will truly be one for the ages.

From the vibrant Full Moon Lantern Festival in Hoi An, Vietnam, to the world-renowned Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival in Taiwan, Asia has been setting the night sky ablaze with dreams and wishes for centuries. Thailand’s Yi Peng Lantern Festival adds to the spectacle, painting the heavens with an ethereal glow. Even Myanmar has joined the celestial party with the Shwe Kyin Floating Light Festival. And let’s not forget Japan’s Toro Nagashi, where lanterns don’t just float, they set sail on water.

Each festival is a unique blend of tradition, culture, and magic. But why should they have all the fun? It’s time we added a little Lion City flair to this luminous tradition.

But the Sky Lantern Festival isn’t just about the lanterns! This event, stretching from 3 pm to midnight, is a whirlwind of entertainment. With a music festival and cultural performances aplenty, there’s something to keep every member of the family engaged and entertained.

The Magic of Sky Lantern Release: An Experience Like No Other

As the sun sets, the main event begins. From 7:30 pm, the sky lanterns will be released in five batches. Under the watchful eyes of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), these magical orbs will ascend safely, each tethered to a 60-metre-long string.

A Secure and Enjoyable Sky Lantern Festival for All

We understand that, as parents, your primary concern is the safety of your little ones. Rest assured, the organisers prioritise safety above all else. Each lantern is securely attached to the ground, ensuring they only float for about five to ten minutes before the candle subsides. Safety marshals will also be on-site to supervise the event and ensure no lanterns are released into the airspace.
