Helping the public deal with emerging cyber threats
To help the public deal with current and emerging cyber threats, various information security organizations have come up with new programmes that are set to be launched soon. These new programmes include the release of the new Industry Code of Practice, sharing of infocomm security information among ISPs, and the development of an educational portal called Virtual Cyber Security Park. All these measures are under the Infocomm Security Masterplan 2, or the MP2.
According to Channel News Asia, the Virtual Cyber Security Park aims to educate children on safe cyber practices. Students in the primary level can learn about cyber wellness and security through interactive computer games which are sure to be entertaining and enjoyable for children. This portal was developed by the Cyber Security Awareness Alliance and the National Crime Prevention Council.
Other initiatives and events under the MP2 are seminars and outreach programmes which are all geared towards raising awareness on cyber security for individuals and businesses. The Mp2 was established in 2008 and is set to run for 5 years.
