A day that was meant to be all about happiness and celebration turned into a tragedy after a women was instantly killed during her daughter’s gender reveal party.
According to authorities, the woman, identified as 56-year-old Pamela Kreimayer, was struck in the head by flying debris of a homemade pipe bomb, which was a part of her daughter’s gender reveal announcement.
The pipe bomb was supposed to shoot coloured powder into the air to reveal the gender of the baby.
Local police Sheriff Jason Sandholdt sent the family his deepest condolences and said, ‘Pamela Kreimeyer, a wife, mother, and grandmother was killed by a piece of metal where a metal stand, gunpowder, and coloured powder were involved. This is a reminder that anytime someone mixes these things there is a high potential for serious injury or death; please do not take these unnecessary risks.”
In recent years, gender reveal parties have slowly gained popularity in Singapore with more parents organising themed parties to reveal their baby’s gender.
While there has been no such mishap in Singapore, in other parts of the world there have been various incidents at gender reveal parties. For instance, just earlier last year, an Australian couple’s gender reveal took a dramatic turn after the car they had hired burst into flames, almost killing the driver.
