Character types in your kid's classroom

5 Jun, 2013

There is one of each personality in every classroom, learn how to spot these classroom characters as you drop your kid off to school. Find out which student your child should be wary of, and which should they be close to!

The Blur Sotong

The Blur Sotong

This classroom character causes no harm to others, but very often comes to school looking tired or feeling sleepy. Slow in their reaction, the blur sotong has a tendency to forget school homework or misplace objects easily. Usually seated at the back of the classroom to sneak a little nap time during lessons.
The Foreign Kid

The Foreign Kid

Easy to spot with their unique name, heavy foreign accent and dissimilar physical features, the foreign kid more often isolates himself/herself at the start of the new term to familiarize themselves with their classmates and surrounding. The foreign kid ever so often specializes in a certain subject such as mother tongue or maths. The foreign kid usually takes the spot of top 5 smartest in class.
The Princess

The Princess

The princess is notoriously pampered by her parents, more often the only child in the family. She demands those around her to give in to her every time and tends to be the queen bee of a clique. The princess has the latest and shiniest hair clips, school bag and pencil box. Rarely saying "please" and "thank yous" --you can hear more complaining and bragging from this little one.
The Teacher’s Pet

The Teacher’s Pet

Stationed right up front of the classroom, near the teachers desk, the teacher’s pet helps to run errands for the teacher such as wiping the whiteboard or distributing workbooks. With their nose up in the air, its easy to spot them as they are very inclined to be nominated prefect or class monitor.
The Silent One

The Silent One

You seldom hear a peep out of this one, the silent one is a great observer of the class. One of the most obedient students in the classroom, the silent one focuses most of their energy on studying and listening to the teacher. This classroom character shows little facial expression most of the time.
The Studious One

The Studious One

A hardworking classmate primarily focused on achieving good grades. The studious one is a good friend when it comes to helping others out in their studies, a potential best friend.
The Crush

The Crush

Your child’s favorite person in the classroom other than his/her best friend. The crush gives your child the motivation to attend school and bathe regularly. It is healthy and natural for your child to have a crush, and try to impress them with good grades or athletic abilities.
The Joker

The Joker

The one responsible for lightening up the mood of the class, the joker always starts school on a jolly note and can be rendered as hyperactive.
The Chatter Box

The Chatter Box

Non-stop hits of words, your kid will never get bored talking to the chatter box. Very active and lively, this classroom character makes friends with everyone and anyone. However, if he/she does adjust his chatter frequency, would be disrupting the class and sent to the "quiet corner" for some time out.
The Kancheong Spider

The Kancheong Spider

Always in panic mode, the kancheong spider sees everything as an emergency-- from rushing to the canteen to queuing up to hand in homework first. This classroom character can frequently be seen together with the teacher’s pet, working hand in hand to get a good rep from teachers. The kancheong spider has a tendency to call up their classmates constantly and compare homework notes.
The Bully

The Bully

Harbouring plenty of frustration and feistiness, this classroom character usually picks on silent and studious classmates. Don’t be fooled, the bully these days aren’t all boys! Their main challenger would more often be the class joker. The bully is likely to be slightly bigger in size than most of the other kids, portraying aggression in replacement of their low self-esteem.
