It isn’t every day that kids can learn to shape the future. Kids today live, learn, and play in a digital world. So it’s never too early for them to acquire the creative and computational skills that would transform them from passive consumers of technology to creators and inventors.
Saturday Kids’ philosophy is to combine the human-centered approach of design thinking with the reasoning tools of computational thinking to help children understand the world, and tackle problems creatively and critically. Not only do inventors, coders, and engineers need to be great at decomposing problems systematically, they need to be able to empathise with people to create meaningful solutions and improve the human condition.
Today, Saturday Kids runs holiday camps and weekend workshops for kids to learn how to programme, design and engineer, and open their minds to the endless fun and possibilities of creating with technology. Kids learn to design and build animations, games, 3D prints, and interactive electronic projects with Scratch programming, HTML/CSS, littleBits Electronics, Product Design, Design Thinking, and many others.
They hope kids will have fun while engaging with technology more meaningfully than simply playing with gadgets, and discover the joy of using technology to invent the future.
Saturday Kids has a Scratch Beginner course where kids can learn programming basics through Scratch. It’s a visual programming language built specifically for children. In these classes, children get excited about the wonders of coding.
By the end of the course:
- Kids learn to code by creating interactive stories, games & other projects
- Learn programming basics such as events, sequences, loops & conditions
- Learn to think systematically, sequentially & logically
- Join the Scratch community, share their projects and continue learning after course completion
- Parents will be invited on the last lesson to view their kids’ very own projects
