5 best playpens for Singapore mums – Shopping guide special!

Check out our list of best playpens!

A playpen is a great way to keep your baby safe and entertained while you get some work done around the house.

Even if you just want to sit back and watch TV while sipping some hot tea, putting your baby in a playpen will ensure he’s at a safe distance from that hot tea — plus you also get a few minutes to yourself.

A playpen will also be helpful if your little one is at that stage where he scoots off the moment you take your eyes off him to answer a call or check mail. You can place your curious little one in the playpen together with his favourite toys and not worry where he’s going to run off to.

Unlike other 'devices' such as walkers, which limit your baby’s mobility and are not so great for muscle development, a playpen gives your baby enough space to move around.

But before you head out to buy a playpen for your little one, take a look first at our list of the 5 best playpens, based on recommendations by the mums in our 2013 mums Facebook group.

Graco Pack ‘n Play On The Go Playard

Graco Pack ‘n Play On The Go Playard

Many mums in our 2013 mums Facebook group use this playpen for their babies. The Graco playpen is a breeze to fold using the Graco signature push-button, and can be taken with you wherever you go.

Be it a day at the grandparents' place or a week away on holiday, this playpen could double up as a cot as it is comfortable enough for baby to sleep in. It also comes with a removable changing mat that is attached to the top of the playpen to make diaper-changing a breeze.

The Graco Pack ‘n Play On The Go Playard is available at kids sections at select departmental stores and on Amazon. Check out more details of this product here.

Selections from Baby Kingdom

Selections from Baby Kingdom

If you'd like to see a variety of playpens before selecting one, then Baby Kingdom is the place to go!

They carry several brands of playpens and play yards in their showroom at Kaki Bukit Avenue. At the showroom you will be able to compare various playpens based on their features and prices, and select one that suits your need.

You can also visit the Baby Kingdom website here to see your choices, or check out their store at 83 Kaki Bukit Avenue 1, Singapore 417954.

Colourful (non-branded) 8 panel play yard

Colourful (non-branded) 8 panel play yard

Even though this play yard is non-branded, it is no surprise so many parents choose it. It is vibrantly coloured and made out of non-toxic PVC, making it safe for your baby.

There is an in-built activity centre on one panel, and the door has a double lock device that will ensure your baby stays inside and doesn’t sneak out.

As this play yard is also more spacious compared to most other playpens, your baby will have more space to move around.

This play yard can be purchased on Amazon and is also available at Baby Kingdom.

Graco Pack ‘N Play TotBloc Playard

Graco Pack ‘N Play TotBloc Playard

Just like the Graco Pack ‘n Play On The Go Playard featured earlier in our list of best playpens, this, too, can be folded and assembled very easily and quickly.

It also comes with a travel bag to make carrying a breeze. The frame is extremely durable and weighs less than 25 pounds.

The Graco TotBloc Playard is very spacious and has soft mesh on the sides, making it well-ventilated for your little one.

The Graco TotBloc is available at kids sections at major departmental stores and on Amazon. Check out more about this product here.

Wooden playpen from Toys r Us

Wooden playpen from Toys r Us

This wooden playpen comes in at number 5 on our list of best playpens. Although this is a no-frills option, it serves the purpose of being a safe and spacious play area for your baby.

It also has a kid-proof lock to ensure your little one stays safely inside.

This playpen comes in 6 separate sections that can be fitted together to form either a hexagon or a rectangle, depending on where you want to install it.

Check out this playpen here.
