Texting mix-up sends strangers to hospital to visit newborn

2 min read

There’s an age old adage that says, “everything happens for a reason.” Even if it's a texting mix-up.

For many, it’s difficult to believe this optimistic outlook on life. For this group of strangers, however, it’s not such a difficult thing to believe.

On March 19th, a man from Tallahassee, Florida named Dennis Williams received a rather unusual text from an unknown cellphone number:

“We are at the hospital. Having a baby today!” followed by, “She has dilated to between 5-6.”

While it would be easy and even expected for the recipient of misdialed text to ignore the unexpected message, Dennis and his brother couldn’t help but congratulate the new parents. Regardless if they knew them or not!

“Congrats lol but I think someone got the wrong number,” wrote Dennis and his brother, Deorick.

The new parents were so pleased by the response, that they sent a picture of the newborn to Dennis and his brother.

The Williams’ were shocked to still be a part of the conversation. Here’s what they messaged back after the photo: “Well I don’t know y'all but me and the boys will be thru to take picture with the baby.”

Later that day, new parents Lindsey and Mark Lashley and their newborn baby boy, Carson, were surprised to see Dennis and his brother actually show up and follow through on their promise.

The Williams’ didn’t come empty handed either. They were thoughtful enough to bring the proud parents and their beautiful baby some gifts!

“What a blessing these two guys were to our family. They were so sweet and kind to do this! You 2 are great guys and thank you for giving to someone you didn’t know! If we all only had this kind of a heart,” The Lashley’s later wrote on Facebook.

Funny how things work out. I guess everything does happen for a reason!
