Mum, have you of late been intrigued by the buzz around THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE? Have your kids brought it to your attention? Or have you seen the fantastic trailer of the movie on the telly or while browsing the Internet?
Chances are you already have.
If yes, then you may well ask why are we bringing this up? That’s a great question. And here’s why.
Bond with your kids and nurture powerful values in them
THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE is not just yet another kiddie movie! It offers you a great opportunity to bond with your kids. Not only is it a fun movie to watch as a family (the characters are voiced by well-known Hollywood actors such as Jackie Chan, Dave Franco and Michael Pina) but it can also give you an excuse to talk about values such as courage, teamwork, and perseverance with your kids by discussing the characters of the movie (More on that later!).
But, mum, don’t kick yourself in the wrong place if you are not aware of this movie at all or the amazing universe it is set in! You are only 6 years late to the party!
Flashback: 6 years ago
It all started in 2011 when the NINJAGO world was unveiled to the world! It arrived with a bang, capturing the imagination of boys and girls around the world through a hit pilot episode and a line of LEGO building sets. The pilot episode centered around the original four brave boys: Kai, Jay, Cole, and Zane who were brought together and trained by Master Wu to form a team of secret ninjas in an attempt to stop the evil Lord Garmadon from collecting all four Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu.
After the success of the pilot, seven seasons of the TV series followed (with Master Wu recruiting the last two ninjas; Lloyd and Nya), keeping kids excited with a balance of epic action and emotion, interweaved with humor and adult themes kids identify with.
A Ninjago movie was first announced back in 2013, Now, the highly anticipated THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE will be released in Singapore on Sep 28.
What’s the movie’s story about?
In this big-screen adventure, there is an epic Ninja battle against the evil Lord Garmadon. The battle for the NINJAGO City calls to action Young Master Builder Lloyd (voiced by Dave Franco), also known as the Green Ninja, along with his other secret Ninja friends – all led by Master Wu to defeat the evil Lord Garmadon, The Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad.
The epic showdown tests the team of modern-day Ninjas, who must learn to check their egos and pull themselves together to unleash their inner power of Spinjitzu and restore peace in NINJAGO City.
The takeaway—values that will make your kids winners
Mum, as parents, we all want to instill good values in our kids—But how do we go about talking about those values with them? A movie like LEGO NINJAGO can give you a fun opportunity to do it!
As the epic line from the wise Master Wu goes: “The battle is fought not on the outside, but within you,” so you can teach your kids values such as —courage, persistence, strength, and most of all, believing in oneself. Through the movie, you can encourage your kids to take charge and pursue their own dreams.
Three reasons your kids will love THE LEGO NINJAGO movie
Here are the three reasons why your kids will stay glued to their seats while watching the movie:
- Ninja coolness – the epic Ninja adventures will captivate the attention of your kids and encourage role-playing, strengthening their powers of imagination!
- Rich characters – kids can definitely relate with the six ninjas, seeing how they are able to use the might of friendship as effectively as their weapons and elemental powers
- Application of mastery to life – Learning and mastering a discipline is something that appeals to the competitive needs of boys and girls!
