Smile Asia Week - Give kids with facial deformities a reason to smile this Mother's Day!

A sweet treat for mum means sweet smiles and lifelong happiness to kids with cleft lips and palates. Find out how you can turn Mother's Day into a charitable occasion.

Apart from Christmas and their kids’ birthday, there is one other occasion that comes around every year that most mums look forward to. Yes, whether they’d like to admit it or not, most mums enjoy celebrating Mother’s Day. After all, what’s not to love about being pampered by their loved ones on this special occasion?

So Dads, here’s your cue to put your thinking cap on to devise an amazing Mother’s Day surprise with the kids! While you’re at it, be sure to include a little “something sweet” as part of your grand plan for your beloved wife who’s now earned the title of “Super Mummy.”

If you’re not sure where to get that sweet surprise, then we’ve got the perfect tip for you! Just remember these five words: Valrhona Chocolate and Banana Cake.

The decadent dessert from The Ritz-Carlton will not only score you sweet points with the missus, but your Mother’s Day gift will also support the hotel’s initiative to raise funds for Smile Asia Week.

 What is Smile Asia Week?

Smile Asia Week: Find out how you can give kids with facial deformities a reason to smile this Mother’s Day!

A regional initiative by The Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Asia, Smile Asia Week is a charity drive that brings together a group of renowned pastry chefs around the region who will bake 7,000 Valrhona Chocolate and Banana cakes. This is to raise funds for Operation Smile, an international children’s medical charity which helps give kids with cleft lips or palates a reason to smile again.

Since 1982, Operation Smile has treated more than 200,000 children in 51 countries, free of charge. In China, more than 8,500 children and young adults have been treated for cleft lips and palates; while in India, more than 15,000 patients have been given a new lease of life.

Kids with cleft are often unable to eat, speak, socialise with people around them, let alone smile. Operation Smile provides free surgeries to heal the smiles of children and transform their lives from as little as US$285 per surgery.
