Singapore Passport Ranked as World’s Most Powerful: Visa-Free Entry to 192 Destinations
The Singapore passport offers its holders visa-free entry to an impressive 192 out of 227 global destinations, making it the top choice for travellers seeking seamless mobility around the world.
Singapore Passport: Rise to the Top
Previously holding the top spot in 2021 with access to 194 destinations, Singapore fell to joint second with South Korea in 2022, maintaining visa-free travel to 192 destinations. In contrast, Japan claimed the lead in 2022 with 193 visa-free destinations.
However, in the latest ranking, Japan’s passport slipped to the third position, offering visa-free access to 189 destinations. It now shares this rank with Austria, Finland, France, Luxembourg, South Korea, and Sweden.
On the other hand, Italy, Germany, and Spain now tie for second place, with their passports granting visa-free access to 190 destinations, just two destinations shy of Singapore’s unrivalled score.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Afghanistan’s passport allows easy access to only 27 destinations, making it the country with the least global mobility. Following closely behind are Yemen, Pakistan, Syria, and Iraq, rounding up the bottom five.
The Henley Passport Index
The Henley Passport Index, which has been tracking historical data for 18 years, utilizes exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). With information covering 199 different passports, this quarterly updated index is widely regarded as the standard reference tool for assessing a passport’s global mobility ranking.
In conclusion, Singapore’s passport has once again emerged as the world’s most powerful, solidifying its status as a global leader in terms of visa-free access to numerous destinations. Moreover, as the travel landscape continues to evolve, the Henley Passport Index will remain an essential resource for those evaluating the strength and convenience of their passports for international travel.
