What is a coronavirus and how dangerous is it?
Coronaviruses are a large group of viruses that can infect both animals and people, and in rare cases, can be zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted from animals to humans. They can cause illnesses of the respiratory tract, ranging from the common cold to severe conditions like SARS.
Symptoms include include a high fever, sore throat, difficulty breathing and lung lesions, which can last for a couple of days. Milder cases may show symptoms resembling to the flu or a bad cold, making detection difficult. According to health experts, it may take up to two weeks from exposure to any symptoms.
