While it may be a must-visit attraction for tourists, the Singapore Botanic Gardens have been dropping off the popularity list as far as locals go. However, now’s the time to plan a visit during this festive season, especially with the Trees of the World 2021 event.
What makes this event all the more special is that you will receive an incentive for paying a visit to the Botanic Gardens between December 4, 2021, and January 2, 2022.
Trees of the World 2021 is a collaboration between Singapore Botanic Gardens for 2021 and the community aims to raise funds for the gardens.

Singapore Botanic Gardens 2021: Why You Must Visit Trees Of The World
With Trees of the World 2021, the aim is to raise funds for the Give to the Gardens programme.
In order to make your visit worthwhile, the organisers have about 200 trees on display across the gardens. The donors, community groups and members of the public have decorated the trees. Some of the trees have been decorated by the NParks staff as well.
The trees have been lit up right in time of the festive season and will be open for viewing from 7 pm to 12 midnight every day.
With the cool breeze, calm surroundings and positive lights around you, the Trees of the World 2021 programme might just be the calming experience you were looking for. Plus, let’s not forget, it’s a far more enriching experience than a regular visit to the mall.
In fact, the trees along the pathway leading up to the Bandstand have also been decorated with festive lights. This further adds to the charm of the Singapore Botanic Gardens for 2021.
Some of the decorations also signify something special on each of the trees and pay tribute to a cause or an area of interest.
Visitors will find baubles and other different decorative ornaments on the trees. The warm lights make for a spectacular look and are definitely worth the time to click pictures with for Instagram.
While visiting Trees of the World 2021, do lookout for a cute little wooden reindeer standing vigil next to one of the trees. You will also find a sculpture of the Girl on Bicycle. It’s a lovely work of art that demands your attention, illuminated in warm lights.
Also, make sure to witness the trees lit up at the Bukit Timah Core close to the Foliage Garden.

Bringing The Christmas Charm
Once the exhibit comes to a close, organisers will plant trees in nature reserves, parks and gardens across Singapore. It’s in order to support the NParks’ OneMillionTrees movement.
All of the contributions raised from Trees of the World support NParks’ research, conservation, education and outreach work.
So make sure to soak in some of that Christmas charm at the Trees of the World exhibit. It’s surely the place that you need to visit at least once this festive season. You can also relax a bit and hype up about overcrowding. There’s enough and more space to spread out and enjoy the lit trees.
At the same time, do make sure to not lower your guard even if things seem normal. Make sure to mask up and use the sanitiser after touching an unknown surface.
