Among recent sexual assault cases in Singapore comes another shocker. A diagnosed paedophile reportedly sexually abused his two underage grand-nieces for more than a year.
This was after he was released from prison for raping his also underage stepdaughter.
The man pleaded guilty in the High Court on August 31 this year. He cannot be named due to a gag order to protect the identity of the two young victims.

According to The Straits Times, the court heard that the now 60-year-old man was sentenced to 19 years’ jail and 24 strokes of the cane in 2001 for rape and other sexual offences he committed against his then stepdaughter.
In 2013, the man was released from prison and moved in with his older sister. She was living with her husband, their grandchildren and the children’s mother at the time.
Three years later, he began sexually abusing his two grand-nieces. The girls were 9 and 11 years of age during this time.
He molested the older girl in 2015 by touching her inappropriately over her clothes. A year after this, he went into her bedroom at night and sexually violated her.
When she moved out of the flat with her mother in 2016, the man turned his attention to her younger sister. On two occasions the following year, the man asked the girl to sit on his lap. He then took this opportunity to violate her.
The Man’s Offences Were Then Reported To The Police
It was only in 2019 that the offences came to light. When the younger sister became uncontactable, the children’s older brother reported to the police.
She was later found by the police several hours later. When questioned, the young girl revealed that she did not want to return home. She told the police how she had been sexually abused by her grand-uncle.
Medical reports show that the older girl kept wondering why he perpetrated the offences against her. She also wondered if she had done anything wrong to deserve it. Meanwhile, her younger sister feared that other men will molest her just the same.
