Singaporean burnt after sitting on an unknown substance on an SMRT seat on her way home after work

This is the second time that a woman has been burnt by liquid found on the seat of an MRT. The victim, 24-year-old nurse Wan Zahfirah Arshad was hospitalised with a burn wound on her buttocks which she sustained after sitting on an unidentified substance in an SMRT train this morning. Nurse Wan was on the north-bound train towards Jurong East at around 11am today when the incident happened.

It was only when she got home did the victim's mother realise that there was a yellow patch on her daughter's uniform. Upon changing the mother realised that her daughters buttocks were scalded.

In the first incident, a 27-year-old Malaysian hairdresser, Ms Law, was victim. She too sustained a burn injury on her buttocks after sitting on a wet seat on an SMRT train.

Watch the video report

While we are not sure what the liquid is or if there is foul play involved, the police are investigating.

Till we have colour on the situation, mum and dads please be  safe and educate your children on these nasty incidences.  If they notice a wet puddle on their Bus or MRT seat, they are better off avoiding it.
