Who would cheat on a stunning Latina beauty like Salma Hayek? Her husband! At least that’s what this gorgeous actress thought when she saw a suspicious message on his phone.
On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Hollywood star spoke about the detective work she self-undertook to find out if her husband – French billionaire François-Henri Pinault – was having an affair with a woman named Elena.
Hints of suspicion
Sayek explains, “So, about a year ago he [her husband] said, ‘you know what guys, I’m going to get a dialect coach and I’m going to get rid of the accent before you who has been living in the States for like 67 years’, referring to me”.
Because he never talked about it again, Hayek assumed he never got around to doing it… until she saw a very suspicious message on his phone.
She explains, “A couple of days ago I’m texting someone and I see his phone, and there’s this message.” The message shouted ‘flirt alert’! It was from someone named Elena.
So, Hayek did some detective work of her own by impersonating a text (from Elena) to her husband. She wrote, “Hi, this is Elena, if you want to improve your English, you have to practice, do you want to practice with me now?”
Hayek, who was born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz in Mexico, then confessed: “I’m Mexican, you know it doesn’t go well”.
“So I was so furious and I said well obviously she’s desperate, he’s not calling her you know, should I say something? I trust him, I won’t say anything.”
But in typical female style, Hayek simply could not NOT ‘say anything’!
She continues, “Four hours later, we’re eating, I’m cool, I go hi, baby and everything is okay and then I go, who the hell is Elena!”
Her husband said he had absolutely no idea who Elena was, that maybe it was one of her cousins. But Hayek, furious at this point, was not about to give up.
She told her husband, “You tell that Elena that I speak English and you can practice your English with me because she sent you a message.”
At this point, Pinault figures out who his gorgeous wife is talking about and says, “You mean Elsa”? Even more furious, Hayek retaliates with, “Elsa, Elena, whoever!”. Her husband starts laughing at this point (so not cool when faced with an angry wife!).
The hilarious realisation
Pinault explained to his wife that he actually did follow up on his ‘threat’ to get an English language tutor, but it wasn’t a real person (i.e. a sexy tutor out to seduce him) who sent him the message.
It was from an English language teaching app he had downloaded some time ago called ELSA!
Hayek’s final words of advice are not to get the app because her husband, she says, still has a very strong French accent!
Mystery solved.
