Sea Monsters: Past and Present

Enter the remarkable world of S.E.A. Aquarium and be prepared to be enthralled by their most fascinating exhibition yet!

The Aquarium’s latest exhibition, Sea Monsters: Past and Present, features life size creatures that lived in the prehistoric oceans. Think: Triassic times when the Marine Reptiles ruled the deep blue.

Mums and dads, it’s a great way for your kids to discover and learn more about these mysterious sea creatures. The exhibition does not just display extinct sea creatures; it also includes ancient creatures that continue to exist even in our modern times!

To find out more about the remarkable exhibits of Sea Monsters, swim on over to the next page.

The mega marine reptiles

It may have a long neck like the Apatosaurus, but don't be fooled by this giant sea reptile! The Plesiosaur is a 14-metre long marine creature that actually gave live birth.

Part of the aquatic warm-blooded reptiles, some species of the Plesiosaur actually had necks that were inflexible and seven metres long!

Meet the biggest sharks that ever lived!

If you think the great white shark is terrifying, wait till you see the Megalodon. Once upon a time, the Megalodon used to be the creature with the most powerful bite on the entire planet!

Do take a photo with the giant jaws of Megalodon, but remember not to sit on it.

Facts through fossils

Facts through fossils

The exhibition introduces us to many ancient creatures through different modes. One of them is through creating fossils of some of the prehistoric marine dwellers. One such creature is the Icthyosaur.

Did you know that the Ichthyosaur could not breathe under water and had to swim to the surface in order to get air?

Bringing creatures alive!

Bringing creatures alive!

The exhibition does make things come alive -- do not miss the recreation of the Placoderm chasing after its prey!

When did it all begin?

When did it all begin?

Do make sure that you help your kids go through this fabulous timeline that tells us about all the sea creatures that have existed since the beginning of life on the planet. Fascinating indeed!

The timeline takes you from as far back as The Dawn of Life to the present day Age of Men.

Can you say Coelacanth?

And if you have trouble pronouncing the names of the sea creatures like me, fret not! The exhibits clearly display not just the name but also the correct way to pronounce the name of the creature on display. The kids might be able to get it right before you do.

Can you spot the prehistoric creatures?

Can you spot the prehistoric creatures?

Yes, some prehistoric creatures can be found swimming in the deep deep blue even today!

Enter the room of Living Fossils and discover what prehistoric animals continue to survive till date. Expect to see Alligator Gar, Horseshoe Crab and even the Arowana.
