With effect from today, Prudential has launched PRUfirst gift, so all mothers and their yet-to-be born babies will enjoy protection coverage from pregnancy to after childbirth immediately upon policy inception.

Did you know that in the United States, about 12.8 percent of babies (more than half a million a year) are born prematurely? The rate of premature birth has increased by 36 percent since the early 1980s. In Asia, although the preterm birth rate is lower at 9.1 percent, the number of premature births is higher, at nearly 7 million a year.

With effect from today, all mothers and their yet-to-be born babies will enjoy protection coverage from pregnancy to after childbirth immediately upon policy inception. Currently, no other insurance product in Singapore protects the mother and unborn baby during pregnancy. PRUfirst gift provides protection for the child even before he/she is born (starting from as early as 18 weeks).

Previously, women have to insure themselves for maternity cover 10 months before they get pregnant in order to enjoy the protection coverage. PRUfirst gift protects expectant mothers against Pregnancy Complications, Death, Total and Permanent Disability, and Terminal Illness immediately upon policy inception without any waiting period while the yet-to-be born baby is covered against Death, Total and Permanent Disability, Terminal Illness, Critical Illness and Congenital Conditions including premature birth.
