Mummies' day out: ideas for the perfect girlfriend outing with your squad

18 Dec, 2015

Make the best out of your Mum's day off with this awesome list of stuff you can do with squad! Have fun, girlfriend!

So you have just gotten out of your confinement period, and you are raring to do something with your much-missed girl squad. Or maybe you get a rare day off from watching the kids.

We show you some great ideas and places you should check out for great girl bonding.

Go ahead, make the best of this opportunity and paint the town red ladies!

Karaoke

Karaoke

Music soothes the savage beast - and also the tired Mum.

Sing away your stresses by belting out old favourites with your girls or simply sit back and get all teary over your favourite emo mandopop song.

Check out this comprehensive list to see which fits your group's style and budget best!

Ladies Night

Ladies Night

When was the last time you let your hair down and had anything more than a sip of wine?

We know you have been good through pregnancy and then confinement, and probably longer if you have been breast-feeding.

Hit the watering holes with your girlfriends on Wednesdays - ladies night!

There are many great bargains out there, but we recommend The Exchange for FREE free-flow vodka house pour drinks, Hoegaarden Rosee, lychee martinis, and lime margaritas for the ladies!

Only if you are not breastfeeding nor pregnant of course!

Yoga

Yoga

Yoga is a wholesome way to bond and work the knots out of your body. It doesn't have to be a regular class, just a couple of sun salutations and we are pretty sure you are going to be feeling just great.

The meditation and breathing exercises will also help you to keep your emotions under control - a much needed skill, as any Mum will attest!

Spa-ing

Spa-ing

Women bond over few things better than a spa. Let the therapist soothe away the aches from carrying the baby all day, and the rose-scented bubble soak remove the smell of baby diapers from your nose.

There are tonnes of spas in Singapore, but if you can only sneak out at night, we recommend g-spa which opens around the clock and has awesome facilities you should definitely check out with your nocturnal girlfriends.

Tai-tai noms

Tai-tai noms

Nothing makes a lady feel more like a lady than a classic tai-tai high tea. Catch up with your girlfriends over delicate noms and clinking teacups.

These dainty sweets are the perfect remedy for baby mush (that gets on your clothes more than in his mouth) and smelling like poo far too often.

For a complete list of high tea places, check this out!

Brunch

Brunch

Sometimes though, a high-tea just doesn't cut it and the tummy feel dissatisfied. This is when we say - check out the brunch places.

Brunches are a great idea to catch up with your girlfriend over comfort food that is both tasty and healthy in a great setting.

Refer to this post for some of the best brunch places to check out with your squad!

Board Games Cafe

Board Games Cafe

We know the baby gurgles and the kids songs can really get to mummies. It's cute, but if you are stuck with that most of the time, it can get pretty frustrating.

Get the girlfriends out for a fun yet mentally stimulating board game in a games cafe. There will be loads of laughs and great finger food to boot!

Check out this article for more info.

City Plaza

City Plaza

We know how prohibitive the prices of diapers and milk powder can get - then there's the child's education you have to think for.

But just because you have to tighten your belt a little bit doesn't mean you have to give up on some girly staples like manicure, pedicures and a good hairwash.

For style on a Mummy shoestring budget, check out City Plaza. It might not look like much on the outside, but there are some real gems in there, from clothes (most blogshops stock up here, in case you have been living too far under a mountain of diapers) to great hairstylists at a fraction of the price you can get in town.

We guarantee your girlfriends will thank you for this!

Haji Lane

Haji Lane

If you prefer shopping as an experience in itself, rather than for the cheap buys, head down to Haji Lane with your squad.

Surrounded with quaint shops selling interesting accessories and clothes as well as cozy little cafes, this is a great place to go for a day out shopping and taking photos along the way. One of the most instagram-worthy places on the island!

Host clubs

Host clubs

How about a bit of harmless fun with some male eye candy?

Hit the for-ladies club which have male eye candy on standby to serve drinks and food.

You don't have to do more than ogle and giggle with your girls (we certainly wouldn't encourage you to do more either!)

Bring your single ladies friends, and you can live vicariously through them!

No official list for host clubs. Try asking someone familiar with the scene.
