21 Dec, 2015

Girlfriend getaways are essential to surviving mummyhood! We have listed down places from Singapore that are easy to travel to, good on the wallet and even more fun without the kid and hubby tagging along. Check if out with your girl pals, just because you are a Mummy now certainly doesn't mean you can't indulge yourself now and then.

Just because you are now a Mummy doesn't mean you have to ditch your girlfriends and your favourite girly activities for good. When you get a chance to leave the country without baby and husband in tow, grab it because we have the perfect list of places you can hit with your girlfriends.

For those golden opportunities, you want to balance indulgence and Mummy duties, so your trips should ideally be nearby, easy on the wallet and consist of activities that you normally wouldn't do together with the husband or kid.

Look no further and check out the 5 great destinations we have listed here!

Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand

No getaway list from Singapore is really complete without including Bangkok, is it?

Bangkok is not only very friendly on the pocket, the stuff it has to offer us lady shoppers are interesting, of reasonably good quality, and very pretty. From quality silk to gorgeous accessories of a huge variety, Bangkok never fails to disappoint the avid shopper.

If you have been feeling dowdy, harassed and bone-tired from juggling mummy duties, this is the place to go to with your girlfriends for some retail therapy. Oh, and let’s not forget the prevalence of massage and spa places everywhere at awesome prices!

Batam, Indonesia

Batam, Indonesia

Batam is often dismissed as a seedy place for men to satiate their virility, but really, it has a lot more to offer than that. Just a hop and skip away from Singapore, Batam is easily accessible via ferry and has lots to offer you and your girlfriends especially if you are short on cash and time.

While not the most glamorous of places, there are plenty of places for you and your girlfriends to get pampered at a fraction of the cost these identical services would cost in Singapore. From hair treatment to manis and pedis or even the full suite spa services, Batam is worth checking out for an easy trip.

Bandung, Indonesia

Bandung, Indonesia

Bandung is not as well known among Singaporeans, but it has plenty to offer as a short getaway destinations.

Nestled amongst beautiful mountains, the weather is lovely all year around. Try the local dishes and shop at the many handicraft shops that line the streets. Your girlfriends will thank you also for introducing them to this city that is great for outlet shopping – cheap, trendy denims at an awesome bargains amongst other things.

This is a well-known destination amongst Jakartans looking for a short and easy trip, pay a visit and you will see why!

Phu Quoc, Vietnam

Phu Quoc, Vietnam

If you and your girlfriends are the type who love the sun, sand and sea, and you girls have been to Bali one too many times, we strongly suggest you hit the beaches of Phu Quoc. Though not the nearest of beaches to Singapore, Sao Beach in Phu Quoc is the longest stretch of powdery, white sand and crystal clear waters that you can get anywhere in the world.

It’s a beach that is just enough off the beaten track that it doesn’t get too touristy (read: polluted), but developed enough that there is decent accommodation, facilities and eateries around the area.

It’s a place to soak up the sun in pristine nature or indulge in water sports together – great for soothing tired mummy minds and souls!

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai, Thailand

If you are looking for a slower pace to smell the roses with the girls, consider Chiang Mai as a great option.

Boasting a cool climate all year round and a distinct culture, Chiang Mai is best known for its beautiful traditional handcraft wood pieces, silver jewelry and even art pieces.

Embrace the hill tribe cultures of Chiang Mai, and you and your girlfriends will be pleased to find out that they are just as warm towards visitors.

This is a great place to visit with the girlfriends for a variety of different experiences!

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Our favourite getaway place in Malaysia to bond over girly chatter is none other than Kuala Lumpur, the bustling capital itself.

If not exactly a shopper’s paradise, it is definitely a foodie’s paradise. Kuala Lumpur offers an array of mouth-watering cuisines from different cultures. You can choose from delectable dainty high teas or gorge yourselves silly on street food – all friendly on the pocket.

Best of all, it is just a coach ride or a short drive away. You ladies can even plan this as a road trip!
