10 places to get the most decadent cupcakes in Singapore

10 places to get the most decadent cupcakes in Singapore

Need a little pick-me-up? There’s something truly magical about a decadent little cupcake, perfectly decorated with just the right amount of frosting.

It’s small enough to conquer any feelings of guilt (you’re not eating an entire slice of layered cake after all), and still large enough to satisfy your sweet tooth when the temptation hits.

Singapore is home to so many bakeries and patisseries, it’s a tough job sussing out where to find the most indulgent cupcakes in town. But we’ve done just that and we bring you our epicurean list (in no particular order) of 10 of the most luxurious cupcakes you can sink your teeth into.

Some are to enjoy leisurely over a cup of coffee, some make the perfect gift for a special occasion and some are the perfect mini-cakes you can order online when you just don’t have time to head to the bakery yourself. Bon appétit.

#1 Cake Avenue

#1 Cake Avenue

Although Cake Avenue has a physical shop for you to get your hands on their other irresistible baked goodies, you have to pre-order the cupcakes, as they are not available over the counter. Why you ask? Because these aren’t just any ordinary, classis cupcakes.

Cake Avenue specialises in custom-made elegant little cakes for birthday parties, first month giveaways, weddings, door gifts and other special occasions. But be warned, delicious as they are, the frosting and fondant magic here make them look almost too good to eat! Almost. A beautiful pack of six starts from just $21, or get them individually-packed in cookie bags starting from $3.50.

Even better, get your child’s birthday party catered for with Cake Avenue’s fantastic cake-and-cupcakes combo, which comprises of a 500g Chocolate Fudge cake in fondant finishing, together with 10-20 pieces of vanilla and chocolate chip cupcakes (from $87.50). Pick up yourself or arrange for delivery at just $15.

#2 Cupcakes with Love

#2 Cupcakes with Love

There are three little words to describe the cupcakes here – simple, charming and delectable. Aptly named Cupcakes with Love, these unpretentious-looking cupcakes are actually baked with less sugar and topped with a thinner layer of frosting, to balance the same rich flavour with some wholesome, healthy goodness.

Adult Chocolate, Chocolate Storm, Matcha Marvel, Polka Chocs - it’s just the way mom used to make it back when we were kids! There’s certainly no scrimping on flavour here, and they are sans preservatives too! Make your next tea party an instant hit with their multi-layered and multi-coloured Dainty Ditsy Floral cupcakes.

They will also personalise and custom make the cupcakes to suit your needs! A box of eight is priced at just $24.

#3 Dessert.Cup

#3 Dessert.Cup

With gourmet cupcakes baked to perfection and dressed to the nines, dessert.cup offers both hedonistic sweet and savoury flavours, ranging from daily signatures to surprising, limited edition flavours.

Baked daily, all their moist, handmade cupcakes are topped with soft and luxurious fluffy light cream, not just sugary icing. Our favourites? Treat yourself to fluffy, luxurious sweet treats such as the Very Black Forest (vanilla kirsch Chantilly cream atop sour cherry cake), Mr. Baileys Expressooh (double shot baileys expresso cream on moist coffee cake), Lemon Meringue (perfectly whipped soft zesty meringue with a delightfully sweet lemon cake sans frosting) and the gorgeous Tokyo Matcha (matcha Chantilly cream with a green tea and red bean cake).

And definitely try the savoury Popped cupcake (a moist corn cake iced with buttery corn cream, topped with popcorn). From $4.50 apiece for daily signature flavours and $6.00 for daily signature-deluxe flavours.

#4 Fluff Bakery

#4 Fluff Bakery

You would never know that Fluff Bakery was Halal-certified judging from its mouth-watering selection of goodies on display. Although open from noon till 7pm, their bakes usually sell out by late afternoon, so make sure you get here as early to get your hands on their incredible centre-filled cupcakes, each at only $4 apiece.

But don’t expect just the same boring, old flavours. Rather, these whimsical, fluffy cupcakes are for those who crave local fusion and something nouveau. When was the last time you had a Kaya Pandan Cheese and Ondeh cupcake with a gooey gula Melaka core? Wait, there’s more!

Choose from weekly changing flavours such as Salted Caramel, Triple Milo, Mango Sticky Rice, Boston Cream Pie, Chocolate Speculoos Cookie Dough, luscious Nutella Red Velvet, Crème Brulee and Baklava (complete with filo pastry)! All cupcakes are halal, and baked with fresh fruits, mascarpone and cream cheese, and unlike other bakeries, no buttercream and fondant is used.

Get 25% off most days when you buy six or more of their cupcakes. Check their FB page for weekly menu highlights and daily promotions.
