5 Parks In Singapore Where You Can Go Grass Sledging And Try Other Fun Outdoor Activities

Get ready to grass sledge with your kids and indulge in many more fun outdoor activities this holiday season!

The holidays are upon us and there is a lot to look forward to, especially if your kids love the outdoors and the parks in Singapore. With the wide-open spaces on offer, they can indulge in a variety of activities. From cycling in kid-friendly routes, to grass sledging on available slopes, and a quaint family picnic, there is a lot to try.

So don’t waste a day this month and plan your outdoor activities in any one of the natural parks in Singapore. Not only is it a fun excuse to get some Vitamin C, but this may also prove to be a great family bonding experience!

There is so much to do and so many things to see at Jurong Lake Gardens. There are various playgrounds and enough wide-open spaces for kids to run around.

While the rest of the family is occupied, you can take a break yourself and set up a picnic by the Lakeside Field or at The Oval, as you enjoy the scenic attractions.

During your visit to this park, you might find that the place has endless slopes and grassy areas for you to plonk down with your child on a perfect sunny day.

2. Pasir Ris Park

The wide-stretch area of Pasir Ris Park makes it a great place to spend the day doing park activities with the whole family. You can choose from a variety of things to do such as pony rides, various water sports, cycling and a pick of any of the barbecue pits across the park.

You can also stroll along in some of the park’s multiple trails that will take you through its magnificent mangrove forest. Here, you might even spot its three-storey Bird Watching Tower to see birds in their natural habitat.

3. Singapore Botanic Gardens

The Singapore Botanic Gardens is free for all families to visit and with its nature-filled attractions it is definitely worth the visit. There are various gardens with different themes like the Ethnobotany Garden, National Orchid Garden, and Ginger Garden.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site has gentle slopes for an ideal picnic spot and its grounds are wide open for children to run around and play in. You might even want to embark on a tour in its Rain Forest or take a look at some of their exhibitions.

4. Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park

Being one of the largest urban parks in central Singapore, Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park has wide open lawns and grass slopes that are great to enjoy a peaceful picnic with your family.

The park is not only a perfect place to go cycling with the kids with its well-maintained tracks, but the River Plains playground is an all-access area for kids to play. It also features a wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round and swing so that every child has a chance to play with their peers.

Nature-lovers will also be pleased with the park’s wide array of fauna and flora as well as their Butterfly Habitat that features more than 30 species of butterflies.

5. East Coast Park

As the largest park in Singapore, it’s no surprise why East Coast Park is the go-to picnic and barbecue spot in Singapore. Its popularity could be due to its grounds that are perfect for cycling, water sports, rollerblading and even an 18-hole indoor mini-golf course.

It’s the best place around the island for a quick getaway with the entire family. It has a total land size of 185 hectares for all the fun physical activities and games you can do with the kids. There’s also a Nature Playgarden with logs and boulders for your child to have an outdoor adventure with kids their age!

If you live near the area to any of these parks, don’t miss out on a chance during these March holidays and spend a fun-filled day with your family!
