Mila Kunis reveals her worst parenting mistake ever

Mila Kunis reveals her worst parenting mistake ever

The actress and soon-to-be mom of two bravely shared a parenting mistake she swore she would never tell anyone...

Though Mila Kunis may seem like a picture-perfect Hollywood mum, who’s talented, charming and married to one of Hollywood’s most beloved heartthrobs, she’s just like a regular mum.

While promoting her upcoming movie, Bad Mums, she revealed her biggest parenting mistake ever.

She recalls how, in 2015, she had packed for a two-hour road trip to visit her husband Asthon Kutcher on set with her baby Wyatt (who’s now 21 months old) in tow.

“You have to pack all this stuff up in anticipation of everything going horribly wrong with the first baby,” she laughed as she told Babble. “And I was like, ‘I did it.’ I put her in the car. Like, I high-five myself. [As] I’m driving down the 101, I was like ‘Oh my God, I’m doing really good today.’”

So, she drove on, proud of herself for packing things like a pro. That was until she realized that her daughter wasn’t stirring in the backseat.

“She was being really quiet, and I was like, ‘Oh, let me look in the rearview mirror to make sure everything’s okay,’” Kunis explained. “And I look, and she’s happy as can be, but just not nearly strapped in.”

Dread filled her upon realizing her mistake. Though she packed everything from diapers to snacks, even her baby’s favorite stuffed animal but, she forgot to buckle her safely in her car seat.

“I was like, oh, f*ck me,” she recalls. “And I’m on the 101 (highway), and she’s just like blah, like fine in her car seat, nothing, no strap whatsoever. And I think I just turned white.”

Fortunately, though, she was able to pull over right away and strap her baby in properly before any there was any serious damage. But any parent would naturally be shaken after simple but serious mistake, any of could have made.

She was in tears when she confessed it to husband, Ashton.

Not alone in her parenting mistake

“I was like, ‘I f*cked up. I f*cked up,’” she recalls. She would soon realise, however, that screwing up is not just something mums are guilty of.

“Lo and behold,” the actress continued, “A year later, like two, three weeks ago, a month ago, I came to get Wyatt out of the backseat of the car, and my husband [had] put her in. And so, I went in to get her out … I opened the car door, and she’s not strapped in whatsoever. And I was like thank God … I wasn’t alone.”

Realising then that she wasn’t alone was a big part of the reason why she wanted to share her experience to other parents. She never had any intention of telling the story to anyone but perhaps her new movie made her realise that no mum is perfect.

It’s simply admirable that Mila would recount this experience, imparting encouragement to fellow non-celebrity parents that we are all together in this. The charming couple recently broke the happy news that they’re expecting their second baby.
