As busy parents, hiring domestic helpers or maids is often the result of needing an extra pair of helping hands around the house. Most of the times we are lucky and our helper ends up becoming a part of the family.
But unfortunately, there are times when the helping hands turn out to be anything but that. Instead of caring for our children, they endanger them. Instead of keeping our trust, they break it. We are left feeling utterly betrayed.
Maid jailed for having unprotected sex with employer’s teenage son

A 14-year-old boy was alone in his home in northern Singapore when the maid attempted to sexually abuse him.
According to reports, the maid had sex with the minor for three to five minutes before stopping when she heard someone come home. When the maid initiated sexual contact, the boy was too shocked to respond. He later told his father what had happened.
The 28-year-old helper was jailed for 10 months due to the fact that she had unprotected sex with a minor. On top of that, she was tested positive for chlamydia, which then puts him at risk of catching the disease as well.
Maid adds eucalyptus oil to breast milk

A former Indonesian maid was jailed in April 2015 for adding eucalyptus oil into her employer’s breast milk which was kept in the freezer.
According to reports, the employer noticed a pungent smell from the two packs of breast milk in the fridge.
After informing her husband, they searched the domestic helper’s belongings and found a bottle of PurerAire Eucalyptus oil in her room. Once they noticed that the content smelt similar to the tainted packs of breast milk, they immediately called the police.
Maid jailed for homicide

A Burmese maid took to stabbing her employer’s mother as an act of revenge. The maid, who was scolded by her employer in the morning gave vent to her rage in the afternoon.
According to reports, the helper was upset at being told off by her employer. She then took the largest pair of scissors she could get her hands on and stabbed her employer’s old and vulnerable mother, who at that time was watching television in her room.
The maid, who was diagnosed with acute depression with psychotic symptoms has been jailed for 13 years.

This maid was instructed by her employer to feed her infant daughter when she woke up between 3am to 5am.
The maid was not pleased about this. Out of anger, she picked up her employer’s nine-month-old baby and threw her back into the cot. All this rage was because the infant had dared to interrupt her sleep.
According to reports, the baby’s parents saw the horrific incident through a closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) installed in the room. The maid was then jailed for six weeks after pleaded guilty.
Maid jailed for killing employer’s teenage daughter
Here’s another horror story which involves a maid with mental illness.
This employer’s Indonesian maid began hearing voices and having hallucinations. She also told the neighbour’s helper that she was having suicidal thoughts. According to reports, the maid allegedly saw ‘satan’ reflected in the mirror. Satan apparently instructed her to kill her employer’s 16-year-old daughter.
Supposedly following Satan’s instructions, the maid took a pillow and attempted to suffocate the sleeping girl. Not convinced of her death, the maid then stabbed the teenager in the chest and abdomen more than four times with a knife.
Prior to the attack, the employer had attempted to counsel and advice the maid.
Maid jailed for stealing luxury watches from employer

A domestic helper was jailed for 18 months for stealing $160,000 worth of watches, jewellery and cash from her employer.
According to sources, her stealing spree included a $60,000 Franck Muller watch and a $35,000 Van Cleef & Arpels watch which she sent back to her mother in Indonesia.

In yet another story of horror and murder, a maid who was given a second chance by her employer ended up killing her with a hammer. The maid had been re-employed despite the fact that she had stolen from her employer and used her teenage son’s phone to make international calls.
However, she took advantage of her employer’s trust once again by brutally murdering her. The maid could not be brought to justice, as she fell to her death from the building. According to reports, she chose to end her own life while waiting for the arrival of the police.
