Last month, we’ve read a report about a maid who has intentionally mixed her boss’ baby’s milk powder with detergent. Nowadays, it’s really difficult to find a maid who can be trusted to do her job well. Just recently, another shocking incident involving a maid has been reported in The Straits Times.
An Indonesian maid was recently arrested for putting her urine into the household’s supply of drinking water. Sri Aryati committed this just a week after she started work for the family in Ang Mo Kio.
When questioned in court why she has done this wrongdoing, she answered that she had a sleepless night and wasn’t thinking properly when she did that. Apparently, the night before, she had to wait up for her boss who arrived at 3am. She pleaded for leniency and promised not to repeat the mischief. Sri Aryati could spend up to one year in jail once sentenced by the court.
Personally, I don’t believe the stuff that the maid said about “not thinking properly” when she committed the offense. Of course she planned everything. It’s not as if the family’s supply of drinking water is inside the bathroom that she just mistook the water container for the toilet bowl. I think that maids who commit crimes such as this should be sent back to their own countries and banned from working in Singapore again.
