27-year-old Li silver medalist at the recent Beijing Olympics for table tennis, Li Jiawei announces pregnancy.

China-born Jiawei and her businessman husband Li Chao threw a lavish wedding in Beijing last Saturday. The couple met through a mutual friend and registered their marriage last September, after a six—month romance. Jiawei was formerly romantically linked to Singapore badminton champion Ronald Susilo. After a 5 and a half year relationship, the couple split ways in January 2008.

The star table tennis player could not be reached for a comment after Li Jiawei announces pregnancy, but Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) President Lee Bee Wah confirmed the pregnancy. STTA Presudent also added that after the Beijing Olympics, Li had told her that she would like to give birth to her child in Singapore and that Li’s mother would help care for the baby.

The baby comes right on time as Jiawei and the STTA had agreed that she should give birth by mid-2010 to give her time to prepare for the 2012 London Olympics.

From all of us here at theAsianparent, congratulations to the Li Family!
