Prudential for kids
A Free Exhibition for Kids Presented By ACT3 International.
Pump up your kid’s school holidays with a Fun and Interactive learning experience on money management from 9- 14 Nov at the entrance of Plaza Singapura, from 11am – 8pm.
This is a FREE event brought to you jointly by ACT 3 International and Prudential for kids aged 7-12 years old.
Children will learn about key financial concepts while playing on a life–sized board game, which is set to replicate real-life situations. Here are the key concepts of learning in the game.
- Setting goals
- Understanding the concept of saving
- Budgeting
- Understanding the difference between a ‘need’ and a ‘want’
- The value of making an effort to earn
- Giving back to the community
- The meaning of spending wisely
The game will comprise of 16 stations – 8 ‘Spend’ stations and 8 ‘Learn and Earn’ stations. Here’s how it works.
At the start of the game, kids will be given 20 tokens to go ‘shopping’ at these stations.
The ‘Spend’ stations are designed to instigate a child’s decision-making skills. These stations will tempt children to spend on material items like books, computer games, sweets, toys, fruits and clothes. Children will then have to decide how much to spend and on what they choose to spend on.
- Sweets Spend Station
The ‘Learn and Earn’ stations will have activities reinforcing these teaching points. The climax in the game occurs when the child loses his or her stash of tokens and will have to earn it back at the ‘Learn and earn’ stations.
- Learn and Earn Station – Books station
After 45 minutes, those who have earned back the tokens they’ve spent will have achieved the objective of the game.
In collaboration with Prudential, ACT 3 will support the learning experience of the event with 15-minute performances on 13 and 14 Nov (Sat and Sun). There will be 3 performances each day at 11am, 4pm and 6pm. Based on the Aesop’s fable, “The Ant and the Grasshopper”, the performances aim to teach children about the virtues of saving and preparing for uncertainty.
Head down to Plaza Singapura to spark off your kids learning experience on this essential life skill.
