Give your kids a treat without spending money

28 Mar, 2013

It’s been a long week of school and you finally have some time to spend with your child! Check out the simple ways to a child's heart and give them a treat without spending any money.

Breakfast in bed

Breakfast in bed

What better way to start the morning then having a delicious breakfast spread served the moment you wake up? Get rid of the "no food in the bedroom" rule for a day and treat your kid to a sumptuous meal in the comfort of soft pillows and blankets. Your kid will be thrilled to know that he or she doesn’t have to get out of bed to enjoy a yummy breakfast made specially with love.
Midnight home movie

Imagine how delighted your kid would be when you push back the night’s bedtime. Next, imagine the greater excitement in their faces when you announce that you will be screening a midnight movie in the living room tonight. Treat your child to a late night blockbuster or family friendly movie in the comfort of your own couch. You’ll be surprised how much your little ones will look forward to treats like this.
Spend a weekday afternoon together

Spend a weekday afternoon together

Have work and school made it impossible for you to spend time with your child in the day time? It would be a real treat for both you and your child if you spent a weekday afternoon relaxing together. Take half a day off work or try to wrap up your office duties earlier and pick your child up on a day that he or she doesn’t have to stay back for extra classes. There’s no treat better than a spontaneous weekday outing!
Pack your kid’s lunchbox

If you’re opting for a no-frills and foolproof idea, here’s one suggestion that you might like. Surprise your child with a hand packed meal for lunch (yes, it doesn’t matter if your child is already a teenager) and expect an excited response that will be thoroughly heart-warming. If you are already preparing your kid’s lunchbox, why not add in a little note to cheer him or her on for the day. Trust us, it will be the best treat that will make your child’s day.
Indulgent family picnic

We all know that healthy snacks are important and having nutritious meals is vital for your kids. But why not cut them some slack just for a day? It might be a good idea to treat your kid to some fun snacks that may not be the healthiest but will put the biggest grins on their faces. However, remember to remind them that such sinful treats are only for the special day and that junk food isn’t for everyday snacking!
