Slats of yellow balau wood, an all-weather timber found in South-East Asia, are used in the decking. Look out for carvings on the slats marking the height you are at on various points along the bridge.

During the day, one can enjoy the harbour views while standing on the 12-storey high bridge. Beyond the bridge, it provides one with a soothing mood while meandering through the forest walk and the earth trails.

Take a break from retail therapy and head for the Henderson Waves, Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge. Its seven undulating ribs twist and turn through the dense tropical foliage of Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park.

No surprises that the bridge offers some of the island’s best sunset and sunrise views.

Visiting time: The wave-forms will be lit with attractive LED light from 7 pm to 7 am daily, giving the bridge an illuminative glow.

Getting there: To get to the Southern Ridges’ Henderson Waves, bus service numbers 131, 145, 176 or 648 will take you to Henderson Road where you can climb up the stairs up to Mount Faber Park. For Singaporeans who drive, there are 17 lots at Mt Faber car park D and 39 lots at car park 1 and 2 at Telok Blangah Hill Park.
