To all the dads out there, there are various things you may want to avoid if you want to stay young looking. In truth, we discourage you from being ashamed of using skincare products.

Mums and women aren't the only ones who need a daily skincare routine. We listed some of the most overlooked skincare mistakes done by most dads and men:

Unhealthy Lifestyle

One of the primary factors that could affect one's skin is an unhealthy lifestyle. Experts point out things like extrinsic skin ageing, which is caused by lifestyle habits and environmental factors.

Aside from that, there are also other things men could not easily avoid that can contribute to faster skin ageing. It includes stress, environmental pollution, and excessive sun exposure. Additionally, smoking and excessive drinking can also lead to premature ageing.

Neglecting the Importance of Sunscreen

Daily use of sunscreen is a must. Some women and mums fail to notice this as one of the most common grooming mistakes. Unfortunately, most of them only commonly use sunscreen whenever they are doing sports or other outdoor activities.

One significant factor contributing to skin ageing is frequent exposure to sun rays. You can never avoid the sun, but there are things you can do to prevent too much exposure to it.

Additionally, you expose yourself to UV rays from the blue light of your gadgets. By regularly using sunscreen, even while indoors, you protect your skin from harmful rays in the long run.

Ignoring Dry Skin

One of the men's common mistakes is that they ignore dry skin, thinking it is normal. Unfortunately, you are likely to notice early skin ageing signs, which appear prematurely when you ignore your dry skin.

Remember that one of the essential things one's skin needs is moisture. Your skin, especially on the face, needs to be replenished from time to time.

Unaware of the Importance of Anti-ageing Actives

A lot of men have no idea how helpful anti-ageing products are in maintaining healthy and young-looking looks. A good anti-ageing skincare routine is one of the most effective and strong weapons to gift ageing.

The earlier, the better. Unfortunately, lots of men associate anti-ageing products with women. They don't realise this is one of the most common grooming mistakes caused by traditional thinking.

In truth, men also need anti-ageing formulas in their skincare to properly take care of their skin, not just women. To know about the products you need, we suggest you look at the ingredients you need to remember below:

  • Retinoids (retinol or retinoic acid)
  • Vitamin C
  • Niacinamide
  • Coenzyme Q10
  • Hydroxy acids (AHAs)

Neglecting the Essence of Eye Cream

Did you know that people commonly notice the early signs of ageing in one's eyes? Regardless of gender, a few signs of ageing typically show up first in the eyes.

You may hardly notice the advantage of using eye cream, but it is essential, especially when you are starting to spot fine lines. Most eye creams also help in preventing puffiness in your eyes.

While taking note of the grooming mistakes we mentioned, we listed the skincare tips that dads should remember. Below, we compiled 5 tips that help prevent the 5 grooming mistakes:

  1. Be Healthy. To keep looking young and healthy, you can focus on maintaining a healthy diet and engaging in regular exercise. It would be beneficial and can contribute to slowing down the rate of skin ageing.
  2. Always Use Sunscreen. Wearing sunscreen daily is a must! Make it an everyday routine to apply sunscreen before you step out of your door.
  3. Never Forget to Moisturise Your Skin. Your skin needs to be replenished from time to time. It would be very beneficial to your skin if you could apply facial moisturiser every day or every time you wash your face.
  4. Don't be afraid to use anti-ageing products. You should use skincare products with anti-ageing actives, which can effectively help your skin avoid signs of ageing. There are a lot of products containing active ingredients that help in reducing flaking and scaly skin and improve wrinkles.
  5. Do Not Underestimate the Use of Eye Cream. Eye cream helps moisturise the skin around your eyes. It would be beneficial in making your skin taut and firm.
