Goldie Blox: the creative engineering toy for girls!

Goldie Blox: the creative engineering toy for girls!

Girls' toys are pink, boys' toys are blue; girls play with dolls, boys play with cars: such are the gender stereotypes that have worked their way into the world of children's toys. But Goldie Blox is busting these stereotypes by encouraging little girls to build, create and think.

Take a walk down the girl’s aisle in the toy department and what do you see? Pinks of every imaginable shade lining shelves as high as the ceiling, boxes with dolls dressed in marvelous gowns, and every Disney princess you can think of. All this is well and good, but don’t you feel something is amiss?

Where are the toys encouraging our little ladies to think, create and build? After all, the children of today are the future of tomorrow, boys and girls alike.

Introducing Debbie Sterling, CEO and creator of Goldie Blox!

Debbie Sterling, CEO of Goldie Blox, created just the thing to get our petite princesses interested in building. As a child growing up in a small town in Rhode Island, her parents had hopes she would grow up to be an actress.

She admits it didn’t occur to her parents or herself’ to buy toys that were traditionally considered to be for boys. When her high school math teacher suggested that she give engineering a hand, Sterling confesses she had always seen herself doing art. Turns out, however, she loved Engineering!

This got Sterling thinking: why aren’t there more toys in the market encouraging girls to construct things? Many companies try to market their construction toys for girls simply by making them pink.

Of course, pretty in pink appeals to girls but she feels there is so much more to girls than just that. We can’t help but agree, don’t you think?

Goldie Blox is the brainchild of a year’s worth of research and hard work. Sterling has combined the fundamental elements that appeal to young girls and put it into a toy that allows them to solve problems by literally building a solution.

Keep reading to find out more about Goldie Blox and how to own a set!

What Is Goldie Blox?

Goldie Blox is the toy for every little girl out there. Sterling believes that while every girl is undoubtedly a princess, that isn’t all she is: she’s a thinker, a creator, a builder… the list is endless.

What she believes is that toys made for girls should provide the same opportunities in interest in a particular subject as the toys made for boys do.

Goldie Blox stars Goldie and her group of friends: an adorable pup named Nacho, a ballerina dolphin known as Katinka, and Flavio the well-dressed Brazilian bear. Kids read a story on how Goldie and her crew go about solving problems by building solutions and are then to do as Goldie does with their own set of wheels, cranks and axels.

By the end of it they should have a functioning contraption that allows Goldie and the other characters to have some fun playing, having conquered the problem they were facing at the beginning of the story.

Girls are challenged to build alongside Goldie, as each step is a step towards helping the team of interesting characters. Sterling explains that the primary difference between boys and girls is that girls enjoy reading stories as opposed to simply building for the sake of building.

Goldie Blox turns what would essentially be a boring instruction manual into a fun narrative that will have girls itching to get to the next page!

Little princesses will now be able to broaden the horizons of their interests far beyond what the traditional toy store dictates to them.
