10 fun and creepy Halloween treats

27 Oct, 2014

Are you planning a spooky Halloween party for your kids? We've done the tough job of putting together a perfectly creepy party menu just for you.

There’s one thing we insist on, though. You should definitely get the kids involved when making one of these fun treats. We guarantee it, it’s going to be loads of fun.

Blood and guts potatoes

Don’t be fooled by the name of these cheesy baked potatoes. As can be expected from domestic goddess Nigella Lawson, she made even blood and guts taste just scrumptious.

These cute ghost-shaped crostini definitely fail in the scare department. In fact, its elegant French dip made of sundried tomatoes, olives, and capers will make your Halloween party guests keep coming back for more.

Despite the rather evil name, these poison apples look and taste amazing. For that extra spook factor, hand them out while dressed as an evil witch… yikes!

Dead man’s fingers

What’s more gruesome than a plateful of chopped-off fingers? Nothing much, I suppose! You’ve got to make these creative tea sandwiches part of your Halloween party menu for a really grisly touch.

Witches’ hair

Witches’ hair

Here’s the perfect main course for a Halloween party: witches’ hair.

Seriously, Nigella Lawson’s squid ink pasta is healthy and delicious. And if you want to add some witches’ blood onto it, Jamie Oliver’s yummy Bolognese sauce may just be the key.

Blood clots and pus

Here is a hideous spin on another kiddie favourite, jelly. Follow Nigella Lawson’s recipes to make your own blood clots and pus. If you can’t find lime jelly for the latter, any green or yellow jelly will do.

Oh, and don’t worry about having to follow two recipes. They’re really just easy to make, so you can go ahead with this gory treat!

End your Halloween meal with a bang with these ghastly, gooey brownies for dessert. And though this Martha Stewart recipe needs nimble fingers, the extra effort will definitely pay off. Life, after all, is in the details.
