Taking an impulsive decision of giving up a successful career and selling his own home was not difficult for Zhu Chunxiao because according to him, he realised that most people are too busy to really spend time with their children, who often lack a real father figure.
Though he had been living comfortably for a decade, he traded this in for half a decade of adventure, experiences and memories.
It took Zhu 3 months of careful planning, which involved selling off the shares of the company he founded, before he could start off on this adventure. His shares amounted to two million yuan (or about $300,000).
He plans to travel the world with his daughter for five years.
They have begun their journey by travelling around China which they plan to do for an entire year.
Zhu believes this adventure will give his daughter rich and priceless childhood experiences. Part of the reason why he wants to do this now is so that he will not miss the opportunity to bond with her when she grows up.
“In the eyes of a child, having a father to accompany them through childhood is the most important thing,” said Zhu.
This decision to devote himself to his daughter clearly ranks him at the top of the leaderboard in terms of good parenting.
