There's an on-going friendly rivalry between Westsiders and Eastsiders living in Singapore, both claiming that the other end of the island is boring and there is nothing to do for fun. So we're putting together two lists of top fun things you can do with kids, starting with Part 1: Westside!

No matter which part of the sunny island you hail from, here's our list of top ten things everyone can enjoy with the kids -- no passports required!

Junior Climbing Academy

For all the Spiderman wannabes, the Nphibian Junior Climbing Academy has fun sports climbing courses for children and youths, so as to spot young talents and nurture future elite professionals!

There are various levels of difficulty for different age groups and your kids will pick up some great sports skills through this enjoyable social activity.

The west side is home to Singapore's very first trampoline park where you and your kids and bounce around to your hearts' content in this huge air-conditioned indoor hall without worrying about the intense sunshine or any sudden downpours.

Jump around like crazy kangaroos, dive into the fantastic foam pit, practice your balancing skills while slack-lining, and just defy gravity by literally bouncing off the walls!

Kids STOP

This one-of-its-kind edutaintment centre in Singapore is filled with lots of different exhibits and zones for young children to be exposed to Science while enjoying the hands-on activities and programmes and is a great way of fostering the parent-child bond.

Batter up! Swing your way to a fun-filled good time with your family at this cool indoor batting cage where you can try your skills at baseball or softball.

Work out your core muscles, burn some calories and relieve some stress as you swing and take a crack at the balls!

Suitable for: 4 years and up (minimum height requirement of 1.2m)

Beat the Singapore heat and pretend you're in a cold climate when you step into the wonderful Snow City, bundle up in thick winter jackets and warm mittens then frolic around in the snow, slide down the snowy slope or hide in an igloo!

Exciting highlights to watch out for include Snow Fall, which helps you get into the spirit of winter time; Snow Blizzard, an exciting (but safe!) experience of being caught in a snowstorm; Storytelling - Life of an Inuit, an educational tale about how Inuits survive in subzero climates; Oki and Friends - Meet & Greet, for kids to rub noses with Snow City's cute new mascots; and Storytelling - Northern Lights, where you can learn about this beautiful natural phenomenon in the Arctic Circle.

Jurong East Swimming Complex

Jurong East Swimming Complex

This impressive swimming complex which is walking distance from Chinese Garden MRT station is the very first public pool to offer a Lazy River, Wave Pool, and fun water slides to the masses at affordable rates.

Not only that, there is also a Kiddy Pool with fun features and a shallow Mushroom Fountain Pool for the little ones, as well as a Stream Course, Competitive Pool and Jacuzzi for everyone else to swim around in.

West Coast Park

West Coast Park

This large regional park is known as the "Play Centre in the West", and it's no wonder as there are so many great activities available for the whole family, such as cycling, barbecuing, kite flying, bird watching, camping, and running around at the adventure playground!

There is even an intimate little West Coast Parents’ Playgroup every Monday at 4:30pm, and Wednesdays at 9:30am, for parents with little ones who want to get together with other mums and bubs for some social fun at the park.

The Rink @ JCube

The Rink @ JCube

If your little ones enjoyed watching the exciting Disney on Ice show or enthralling ice hockey games, they might want to try ice-skating at Singapore's largest indoor ice-skating rink.

Pint-sized beginners can get a little help from the adorable skating aids, such as the Penguin, Snowman, or Seal. For even more fun, head on down to The Rink on Saturdays (between 5.15pm - 10.15pm) and glide around on the cool bumper cars ($8 per 10 minutes ride)!

Suitable for: 4 years old and up

Ever wondered what it would be like to be a tiny hamster rolling around in those big plastic balls? You don't need a shrink-ray to enjoy these thrilling zorb ball sessions which are conducted in big fields with gentle slopes in the west side of Singapore!
