As the Year of the Wood Dragon approaches on Feb 10, the Lion City has transformed into a magical wonderland, with vibrant displays of mythical creatures gracing iconic locations. Let’s embark on a journey to unravel the enchanting dragon spectacle that has taken over Singapore’s landscape.

 

1. Gardens by the Bay

Picture this: Gardens by the Bay, adorned with a 140m-long dragon wrapping around two Supertrees, illuminated in a rainbow of colours. This spectacular display, accompanied by an 18m-tall God of Fortune, is a must-see as part of the River Hongbao festivities.

Head to the Supertree Grove from Feb 8 to 17 for a free dragon-viewing experience, and catch the dazzling firecracker show on selected dates. Inside the Flower Dome, discover a 15m-long dragon rising amid a sea of dahlias, adding a touch of magic to the Dahlia Dreams exhibition.

 

2. Resorts World Sentosa

Dive into the underwater world at Resorts World Sentosa and witness a mesmerizing underwater dragon dance at the Open Ocean Habitat in S.E.A. Aquarium. Divers, portraying the dragon conquering oceans, perform daily at 3.30 pm as part of the Spring In The Sea event.

But the dragon dance party doesn’t end there – experience the Starlit Dragon Spectacular live performance featuring an 88m-long LED dragon at the Lake of Dreams. Don’t forget to capture memorable moments with colourful 5m-tall and mini dragons at AVE8’s Wealth Of Dragons installation.

 

3. Marina Bay Sands

Singapores Dazzling Dragon Themed Decor Delight for Chinese New Year

Marina Bay Sands lights up the night sky with “The Legend Of The Dragon Gate,” a mesmerizing drone performance featuring 1,500 drones creating a dragon masterpiece. This free 10-minute spectacle at 8 pm runs for six days in February, conveying the mythical story of the Dragon King, family reunion, perseverance, luck, and prosperity. Explore static dragon installations, including turquoise dragons at The Shoppes, and discover carp statues believed to transform into dragons.

 

4. Funan

Get ready for an immersive dragon-inspired experience at Funan Mall’s “Creative Intersections: Traces Of Dragons.” From Jan 19 to Feb 25, this art activation showcases 16 unique collaborations, including a decorative wood dragon and the animated light art installation titled “Dance Of The Dragon.” Let the dragon traces guide you through this creative journey.

 

5. Chinatown

Chinatown welcomes you to the dragon dioramas illuminating New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street, South Bridge Road, and Upper Cross Street from 7 pm to 12 am until Mar 9. Designed by students from the Singapore University of Technology and Design, these festive lights bring the dragon theme to life in a dazzling display, soaring into the auspicious Dragon Year.

 

6. Toa Payoh

In the heartlands of Singapore lies a dragon many are familiar with – the Dragon Playground at Toa Payoh Lorong 6. Designed in 1979, this beloved landmark has become an enduring symbol, inspiring other dragon playgrounds and Singapore-themed goods.
