On the 26th of April 2010, after participation from over 400 schools and 30,000 entries, Google unveiled the winner of the Doodle 4 Google competition, an initiative to bring the arts to youths and promote the expression of creativity in Singapore.
And the winner is…
Congratulations to James Rotanson from ACSI for producing the winning Doodle, which will be displayed on the Google Singapore homepage on National Day!
The Age Group 17-19 and National winner’s inspiration, he says, was observation of nature and the scenery in Singapore. Having moved to Singapore only 2 years ago, he stated that his Doodle was meant to be a reflection of what he knows and feels about Singapore and the values it stands for.
The other 4 winners of the respective age groups are as follows:
Age Group 4-6: Pradot Dubey
Age Group 7-9: Quirsten Russel Magalong Fernandez
Age Group 10-12: Christel Gan
Age Group 13-16: David De Guzman
This is the first time Doodle 4 Google has been held in Singapore. “It’s amazing what these kids draw about. The cultures, the food, the people…” says said Derek Callow, Head of Marketing for Google in SouthEast Asia. “But ultimately there’s no success other than the kids being happy.”
